In February 2019, the Commission invited members of the public and organisations to make written submissions relevant to the Commission’s terms of reference. Submissions received by the Commission were treated as public, anonymous, or confidential.
While the Commission’s preference was to make submissions public, there are various reasons why this was not always possible, including the author’s preference for the treatment of their submission; the need to protect the safety of the author or other individuals; and legal reasons such as restrictions on the publication of information subject to a public interest immunity claim or court suppression orders.
The Commission was unable to consider or publish submissions that did not fall within the scope of the Commission’s terms of reference.
In total, the Commission received 157 submissions. Fifty-six (56) submissions, below, were suitable for publishing.
